External connectivity

Connect your existing devices and sensors from other brands. The AyeAye® has few limitations and supports a variety of standards.

Hardware

If you want to connect existing instruments, sensors and antennas to the AyeAye®, you can. The boat computer supports maritime devices from most brands.

Data & power

If you want to connect your anemometer, depth sounder, plotter or any device that talks NMEA, you can connect it. There are connections for the older NMEA 0183, the newer NMEA 2000 (CAN-bus) and the older SeaTalk1 and the newer SeaTalkNG for Raymarine products. This does not only apply to data, the AyeAye® also forwards the power from your battery bank via the cables.

Antennas

For additional reception, we recommend connecting antennas. Connect the VHF antenna for AIS reception and connect a GPS connector for additional GPS reception. The GPS antenna is an active 3.3V antenna.

Digital switching

Connect electronic appliances such as cabin lights, navigation lights or fans and switch them on and off via the AyeAye® app.

Use case 1: Enriching the data by connecting additional devices

With conventional boat instruments, information is usually displayed on separate screens. If you have several types of sensors, you will then probably have one screen for each sensor. This way you mainly see live information, which means that further analysis of trends is not always so easy. There are situations where you want to take a look at the statistics of a certain time period or compare the data of one sensor with the statistics of other sensors.

With a system that collects all the data for you and summarises it in a dashboard, you can do just that. The AyeAye® boat computer combines data from different instruments and makes them available in one easy to use app. What’s more, you never have to manually record travel details in the logbook again. All important data is saved automatically and always at hand when you need it.

Future: Plug & play wiring

The AyeAye® boat computer does not require any external instruments or sensors to function. However, it is currently expandable with almost any marine data protocol or device used on boats. We are working on simplifying the connectors needed for this so that in the future you can simply take your connector and plug it in. Instead of having to connect smaller wires individually, you can simply use your existing connector for SeaTalk1, SeaTalkNG, NMEA 0183 / 2000 or other protocols. Plug & play!
